Official public data
The official public sources used to create WaterCheck Ireland place pages.
Each source provides a different part of a place report. WaterCheck Ireland brings them together without replacing the original records.

Water Supply Zone names and geographic boundaries used to understand which supply zones overlap each town or city.
Official Built Up Area boundaries, settlement names and population figures for towns and cities.
Census boundaries define the place, Uisce Éireann boundaries identify overlapping Water Supply Zones, and EPA records provide the historical monitoring information shown for those zones.
Monitoring applies to a whole Water Supply Zone and may include sampling locations outside the settlement. Population is provided as place context and is not used to estimate how many people receive water from a zone.
The sources are published on different schedules. Census information is from 2022, the Water Supply Zone boundary snapshot is from 2026, and the current monitoring series covers 2021–2025.
A mapped zone may not have monitoring records for every year. Missing data is shown as unavailable rather than assumed to be zero.
WaterCheck Ireland is independent of the EPA, Uisce Éireann and the Central Statistics Office. It presents their public datasets in a place-based format and does not create a new official rating or safety classification.
