About the project

About WaterCheck Ireland

A clearer way to explore official drinking-water information for towns and cities across Ireland.

What is WaterCheck Ireland?

WaterCheck Ireland is an independent website that brings together official public information about drinking-water monitoring in Ireland.

It organises historical records by town and city so they are easier to find, read and compare over time.

What can I find here?

Place pages show monitoring results, the parameters tested, EPA-listed exceedance records and historical trends for the Water Supply Zones mapped to that place.

They also explain how much of the Census Built Up Area overlaps each mapped Water Supply Zone. Monitoring relates to the whole zone and may include sampling locations outside the town or city.

Where does the data come from?

Monitoring results and listed exceedances come from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ireland. Water Supply Zone boundaries come from Uisce Éireann. Settlement boundaries and population figures come from Census 2022.

WaterCheck Ireland is not operated by the EPA, Uisce Éireann or the Central Statistics Office.

What WaterCheck Ireland does not provide

WaterCheck Ireland does not give a current safe or unsafe verdict, issue a water quality score or replace official advice.

It is not a live service for outages, Boil Water Notices or Do Not Consume Notices. Check Uisce Éireann for current information affecting your address or Eircode.
